Restores sounds in Battlefield Vietnam that worked in XP but quit working in Vista and Windows 7.   Hotkey audio responses(Requesting a pickup, sorry, go for the flag, etc) and In-Game notifications(Hold your fire...are you working for the cong?, Get moving or we're all going home in body bags, etc.) will be heard on your speakers again.   Game audio files(.mrfa) and any installed .mrfa Music Packs will play as in Windows XP also.

The Installer checks for the correct game version(1.21) and will not allow installation on any other version.

NOTE:   This sound fix DOES NOT FIX THE MUSIC IN POE.   The music in POE is not supposed to play by design.

Works on all versions of Vista & Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit).

This Beta version will expire after 90 days.   When I find that it works without any problems I will release a full unrestricted version.   Use of the patch installer will terminate but the installed sound patch will keep working.

Instructions

• Download and run the self-extracting Installer.   This will install the patch installer which should start automatically after it is installed.

• On Step-1, click the "Install Patch" button, click "Ok" when finished.   On Step-2, follow the on-screen instructions to change "Compatability Mode" to "Windows NT Service Pack 5".

WARNING:  BOTH STEPS MUST BE DONE IN ORDER FOR THE SOUND FIX TO WORK

This is a Beta Copy of the installer.   I run this successfully on my version of Windows 7 (64-bit) and several others have confirmed it to work successfully.   However, if you do have any problems with installation of the installer or the installer not fixing your sound, could you please send me a personal message on this site so I can fix whatever bugs the program might have(if any) please.   It would be much appreciated.

who cares 2010-05-28 07:08:16 hmmm, whats the patch for, no need to patch anything for win7 afaik. runnin bfv as admin in nt4.0 sp5 mode made any sound/music work for me on every version or mod of bfv in win7 pro64 ;)
